Events and Information about November 2012
Year 2012 is a very interesting year cause of the various beliefs that cataclysmic or transformative events will occur on December 21, 2012. Some people believe that this
will be the end of the world. The date, December 21, 2012, is regarded as the end-date of the 5,125 year long cycle of the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar, also called
the Mayan Calendar. A New Age interpretation of the transformative events that are supposed to happen is that Earth and its inhabitants will undergo a positive physical and
spiritual transformation, marking 2012 as the beginning of a new and better era, so it's not all bad.
2012 is a leap year starting on a Sunday in the Gregorian calendar, and is the 2012th year of the Anno Domini or Common Era designation. 2012 has been declared as the
International Year of Cooperatives by the UN General Assembly. By doing this the UN General Assembly hopes to highlight the contribution of cooperatives to socio-economic development,
social integration and poverty reduction. The year 2012 has also been designated as the Alan Turing Year, to celebrate the famous mathematician Alan Turing, as well as the International
Year of Sustainable Energy.
When it comes to the month of November, it is the 11th month of the Gregorian Calendar, and one of four months to have 30 days. The
name November, comes from latin, novem meaning nine. November was actually the ninth month before the months of
January and February were added to the Roman Calendar, before this period was just known as the monthless winter. In common years the month of November starts on the same day of the
week as February, every year it starts on the same day as March. The month ends of the same day of the week as
August every single year. Zodiac signs for people born in the calendar month of November would be Scorpio or Sagittarius.
